Essential oils are not the same as perfume or fragrance oils. Essential oils are derived directly and solely from the plants themselves, while perfumes and fragrance oils are artificially created or contain artificial substances.
The chemical composition and aroma of essential oils can provide valuable psychological and physical therapeutic benefits. These benefits are usually achieved through inhalation or application of the diluted oil to the skin.
Aromatherapists and massage therapists often dilute essential oils with a carrier oil such as sweet almond oil, apricot kernel oil or grape seed oil and then apply the mixture to the skin.
Careful inhalation of the oils via diffusion can also provide therapeutic benefits as the oil molecules enter the lungs and are absorbed into the bloodstream.

As well as individual Indonesian essential oils, we at Sandstouch offer a range of blended oils which our aromatherapists have developed for specific purposes.
